Dear Fellow Auto Enthusiast,
Welcome to the June newsletter of Blue Collar Muscle Rods & Custom.  Last month I took the opportunity to introduce the shop and give you an update on the early stages of construction.  A significant amount of construction occurred since the last newsletter and this month will be heavy with eye candy.  Not the flames and metal flake eye candy that we all love but the lumber and nails variety that comes from building a shop from the ground up.
The first major milestone was setting 160 trusses and installing a roof.  The crew used a crane to install the main trusses in the 50′ wide center area since each truss was over 1000lbs.  The roof on the original building was steel and after 10 years it was leaking. I made the decision to switch to asphalt shingles.
The second milestone was the concrete floor.  The floor was poured in sections over 5 days.  The floor allows the installation of the exterior doors and firewall.
The last milestone was the installation of the firewall.  The fire protection codes here limit a building to 12,000 sq.ft when a sprinkler system is not utilized.  A sprinkler system in a rural area without a municipal water supply is unbelievably expensive.  The alternative to a sprinkler system is a firewall which breaks the building up into two buildings sharing a common wall and the same roof.  The firewall is a combination of 2.5″ of drywall and 1″ of “shaft wall.”  Shaft wall is UL certified and is the same material used to line the elevator shafts of a multi-story building, hence the name shaft wall.  The shaft wall is installed in metal studs to eliminate anything flameable in the 3.5″ of firewall.  This provides a 2 hour firewall meeting the fire protection code for this building style and use.
Last month I shared two renderings of the interior of the shop next to the current view of the same position in the shop.  I’m sharing the two renderings again but updating the actual construction phase next to it.  In the top photo, the back wall has been closed by the firewall.  In the bottom photo, the trusses and framing give you an idea of the location of the fabrication and paint rooms.
Last month I shared some information that will differentiate us from other shops.  This month consider:

We are not a collision shop; your vehicle is never used as a fill in or delayed due to insurance work.

We are a full service restoration and custom shop. We work on hotrods full time. We love these cars and your vehicle will be treated like it is our own.

We don’t stop working on your vehicle when a more lucrative job comes in.

While we build our new shop, which will be completed this fall, we’d like to keep in touch.  Please like our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/BlueCollarMuscleRods/ and check our webpage for the gallery of construction photos and videos by clicking on the ‘TAKE A SHOP TOUR” button, https://bluecollarmusclerods.com

Thank you to all of the suppliers and vendors for your support and hard work in everything that you have done thus far.  I look forward to our continued collaboration and friendship.

We will be sending out newsletters and updates from time to time to keep you posted. In the meantime, please feel free to offer any feedback and let us know how we can make your Muscle Car, Rod, or Custom build dreams a reality.

Let us show you what we can do!

Sincerely,
Eric Meyer
